Commercial or industrial roofing, in general, tends to use flat or low slope roof design. There are five types of roofing materials typically used for that type of design including: Built-Up Roofing (BUR): Built-Up roofing consists of multiple layers of material that are laminated together. Spray Foam: Spray polyurethane foam (SPF or just foam) is applied as a liquid (which puffs up once applied), it forms a continuous, seamless, protective barrier around vents, pipes, and other protrusions through the roof. Modified Bitumen: Modified Bitumen (MB) is asphalt with modifiers added to it to give it plastic or rubber-like properties making it much more durable. Single Ply Roofing: Single ply roofing membranes (sometimes referred to as PVC or TPO) consists of four basic elements — an insulation layer, a single-ply membrane usually made of plastic or rubber, flashing, and an adhesive. Metal Roofing: While not an ideal solution for absolutely flat roofs, metal roofing is terrific for low-slope roofs. Typically made of steel, aluminum, or copper, metal roofs can also be extremely attractive. Commercial roofing failure, in Charlotte and other locations, is not an option for industrial property and business disruption for repairs can be deadly to the bottom line. Also, a leaking roof can cause damage to sensitive equipment, inventory, and other assets, not to mention the risk to the workers on the premises. That’s why it is so important to have professional roofers on hand, not only to perform regular maintenance but to perform repairs when something goes wrong. Many industrial spaces are broken up into smaller areas and leased to tenant businesses, all housed under one roof. Advanced Roofing and Exterior strongly recommends that proper roof maintenance can avoid property loss and unhappy tenant business owners. We offer a variety of flexible maintenance contracts and schedules. Advanced Roofing and Exteriors offers commercial roofing and residential roofing services to Charlotte NC and surrounding areas.
